Qualifications and Experience:
With over 15 years of coaching experience, Leesa has dedicated herself to helping athletes of all ages, including coaching State Schoolgirls Soccer and serving as an Australian selector. In her twilight years, she also played for Victoria, combining her passion for sport with her expertise in coaching.
Leesa discovered CrossFit at the age of 43, and it transformed her life. The supportive environment pushed her to embrace new challenges and led her to compete in powerlifting, weightlifting, and strongwoman competitions both nationally and internationally. Her favorite movements? Deadlifts and squats! Though she might not be a cardio enthusiast, she will run for chocolate—after all, balance is key!
When she's not coaching, Leesa runs a driving school and a website design business. She’s also a devoted dog lover, with three furry companions. Leesa's coaching philosophy centers around growth and empowerment. "If I'm pushing you, it's because I see more in you," she says. Expect to be challenged, supported, and motivated to step outside your comfort zone. No pain, no gain!

Qualifications and Experience:
James has over 10 years of CrossFit experience and two years of coaching under his belt. In 2021, he and his wife, Tina, took a significant step in their fitness journey by purchasing CrossFit Hervey Bay, where they strive to foster a supportive and empowering community.
Before embracing CrossFit, James spent years training in traditional gyms, focusing on strength and bodybuilding during his early days as a rugby league athlete. His background in training rugby league provided him with a solid foundation in fitness, which he now applies to his CrossFit coaching.
In addition to his coaching experience, James has a rich history of mentoring young athletes, having spent many years coaching junior league while his boys were growing up. He is passionate about nurturing the next generation of athletes and instilling a love for fitness in them.
James holds a Diploma in Health and Safety and has completed various certificates focused on mental health and wellbeing. This knowledge enhances his coaching approach, allowing him to support members not only physically but also mentally.
With a commitment to helping others achieve their fitness goals, James combines his extensive experience in strength training, coaching, and wellbeing to create an inclusive and motivating environment at CrossFit Hervey Bay.
Qualifications and Experience:
After becoming a mother to three beautiful boys, Renee realised that her energy levels were low and her fitness had taken a backseat. Determined to make a change, she joined a group fitness class and committed to an eight-week challenge. This transformative experience not only improved her fitness but also helped her discover a healthier, happier version of herself. Inspired by her journey, she pursued her Cert III and IV in Fitness to help others achieve their goals.
About three years ago, Renee and her husband, David, embraced CrossFit, quickly falling in love with its vibrant community and challenging workouts. They are now excited to share their CrossFit journey with their three boys.
In early 2023, Renee completed a traineeship with Neurohab, a program created by spinal neurosurgeon Dr. David Johnson. This clinically proven methodology effectively addresses "Movement Dysfunction" to alleviate spine pain symptoms and is rooted in a CrossFit background.
A significant highlight of her career came at the end of last year when she attended the PRVN Grounds Workshop in Brisbane, where she gained valuable insights from Tia-Clair and participated in sessions led by Shane and the PRVN team, enhancing her knowledge in training, mindset, and recovery.
As a fitness professional, Renee is passionate about sharing her expertise to improve the quality of life for others. She specializes in CrossFit, strength training, and movement quality, believing that functional movements are crucial for maximizing everyday life.
Qualifications and Experience:
Meet Jess, our resident paramedic and passionate CrossFit coach. Not only is she a qualified paramedic, but she is also pursuing a Bachelor in Sport and Exercise Science while holding a CrossFit Level 1 qualification. Jess has made a name for herself as a Futsal superstar, competing nationally and internationally since the age of 14. A highlight of her career was representing Australia at the AMF Women’s Futsal World Cup in Colombia.
With extensive coaching experience in both Futsal and soccer, Jess has worked with players ranging from under six to adults, fostering skills and passion for the game as well as coaching CrossFit the past year.
Jess began her CrossFit journey to feel strong and empowered, and she loves the process of learning new movements and challenging herself week after week. She appreciates the welcoming and supportive community, finding that the functional movements she practices in CrossFit translate directly into her everyday life. Moreover, CrossFit training has significantly enhanced her performance in Futsal.
With her unique blend of skills and experiences, Jess is dedicated to inspiring others to achieve their fitness goals while emphasizing the importance of strength, technique, and community.
Introducing Taylah, our enthusiastic Assistant CrossFit Coach in training at CrossFit Hervey Bay. Over the past two years, Taylah has immersed herself in the world of CrossFit, honing her skills and passion for fitness at our gym.
Currently, she is being mentored by our senior coaches, gaining valuable coaching knowledge and skills as she develops her coaching abilities.
Taylah primarily works with our CrossFit teens class, where she enjoys inspiring young athletes twice a week. She is eagerly preparing to sit for her CrossFit Level 1 certification and plans to pursue her Cert III and IV in Fitness in the coming years at school.
Her love for health and fitness extends beyond the gym; Taylah is also a talented netball player. She leverages her CrossFit training to enhance her performance on the court, showcasing her dedication to both sports.
At CFHB, we have big plans for Coach Taylah. With her passion and potential, she represents the future of our gym and the sport, and we are excited to watch her grow as a coach and athlete.

Tina is a passionate coach and owner at CrossFit Hervey Bay, with over 12 years of experience in the fitness industry. Her extensive background includes personal training, competing, and coaching, fueled by her love for CrossFit and her accomplishments as a Masters Weightlifting competitor at both State and National levels. Additionally, she serves as the President of the Fraser Coast Weightlifting Club, furthering her commitment to the sport.
At the core of Tina's coaching philosophy is a dedication to continuous learning and the belief that knowledge should be shared to help others strive for their best. She is focused on building a community that embodies determination, work ethic, and respect—values that she believes should be at the forefront of any athletic pursuit.
In her professional life, Tina is a secondary school teacher, deeply passionate about helping young people reach their full potential both in the classroom and beyond. She emphasises the importance of caring, inclusive, and respectful partnerships in her mentorship approach.
With her wealth of experience and unwavering dedication, Tina is committed to inspiring and empowering athletes of all ages at CrossFit Hervey Bay.
